At approximately 7:23 p.m., uniformed, on-duty Houston Police Officers arrived to assist and attempted to perform a felony traffic stop on the parked vehicle. Eight Officers and one Sergeant discharged their duty weapons, striking Spates. A drone was sent in prior to Officers extracting Spates from the vehicle. Officers then rendered aid until HFD paramedics arrived. Spates was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. No Officers were injured.
