Bodycam and internal footage from Albuquerque, New Mexico reveal the arrest of 51-year-old Steven Phillips, a longtime middle school PE teacher, during Operation Overwatch, a sting operation targeting child predators. Police say Phillips responded to an undercover agent posing as a father on a fetish website and allegedly arranged to meet what he believed was a 12-year-old girl. When Phillips arrived at the home, officers took him into custody and discovered he had brought an adult toy with him. During interrogation, Phillips claimed he only came out of "curiosity" to observe the situation, insisting he had no intention of following through despite the explicit nature of the online conversations. Investigators weren't convinced by his explanations. Phillips, who had spent over a decade teaching kindergarten through eighth-grade students, expressed devastation over destroying his career and the impact on his school community. Online records show Phillips ultimately pleaded guilty to attempted human trafficking of a minor, while his remaining charge was dismissed. He was later released from jail and placed on probation.
