A mother is arrested after calling 911 and confessing to what she did to her 4-year-old son more than a year earlier. What she told detectives left investigators stunned — and finally closed a case that had gone cold since 2022. On April 10, 2022, first responders rushed to an apartment on Fitzgerald Court in Detroit after a 911 call about an unresponsive child. The boy's father had been asleep in another room when he was awakened by screaming. He ran upstairs, found his son unresponsive, and immediately began chest compressions. Despite every effort, 4-year-old Anthony Scott Upshaw Jr. did not survive. Investigators could not determine what happened. The case went cold. Then on May 19, 2023, more than a year later, 40-year-old Chavon Caprice Boone made a phone call that changed everything. She dialed 911 and told dispatchers exactly what happened that night — while she was alone with her son in his bedroom. In this video, we break down the body camera footage, the interrogation, and the moment detectives told the father what really happened to his son. Boone was charged with felony murder, first-degree child abuse, and delivery of a controlled substance causing death. She was held without bond. In July 2025, she entered a guilty plea. On August 26, 2025, she was sentenced to 22 to 40 years.
