What led to that moment started as nothing more than a conversation. In this video, we break down the body camera footage, the surveillance video, the witness statements, and the full investigation into a case that unfolded in front of a restaurant full of people. On August 10, 2023, officers in Savannah, Georgia responded to reports of a shooting at a KFC. When they arrived, they found a woman at the entrance of the restaurant, unresponsive and against the glass door. Medics rushed her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. At first, no one had a clear picture of what happened. But the employees and customers inside did. Officers spoke with a KFC employee who described the suspect as a man who had come into the store claiming he worked for the company and wanted a transfer. What began as a simple conversation quickly turned into an argument. Officers then spoke with the victim's girlfriend, who had been part of the encounter. She explained that the suspect had approached them while they were eating. The victim recognized him from school years earlier. When the girlfriend questioned who he was, things escalated. The argument moved outside, and that's when it turned violent. According to the girlfriend, and later confirmed by surveillance footage, the suspect took a gun from a woman he was with and struck the girlfriend in the head with it. Then he walked away.
