ABOUT THIS VIDEO

A fight over an apartment key ends with three people being rushed to the hospital. The man who pulled the trigger is never charged with a crime. In this video, we break down the body camera footage, the 911 calls, and the full investigation into a case where a roommate dispute over something as simple as a key turned into one of the most intense scenes officers responded to that year. On October 15, 2023, in the early morning hours, Tallahassee Police were dispatched to an apartment complex on Ocala Road near Florida State University after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds inside the apartment. What started as an argument between roommates over a returned apartment key had escalated throughout the night. According to police records, the leaseholder had thrown out the tenant's food and called others to the unit. The confrontation eventually moved into the tenant's bedroom. During the encounter, the tenant discharged a firearm. Detectives launched an investigation into the incident. Body-worn camera footage captured the full aftermath. The case was reviewed by the State Attorney's Office, which examined all available evidence including video of the confrontation itself. After a thorough review, the State Attorney's Office declined to file charges against any party involved. The case was exceptionally cleared. No one was charged or convicted. All footage in this video is public record obtained through Florida's public records law. No individual depicted was charged with a crime in connection with this incident. Everyone involved is presumed innocent.
