* (Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) North Olmsted, Ohio — On January 21, 2026, at approximately 3:03 p.m., Elyria Police received a report that a Brinks employee had been robbed at gunpoint. According to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the suspect was identified as 37-year-old John Johnson, who was seen fleeing in a black Hyundai. Police from multiple agencies began pursuing the vehicle, with investigators later determining that Johnson was wanted for aggravated robbery with a firearm and kidnapping. The pursuit continued into North Olmsted, where officers successfully deployed tire spikes before Johnson crashed into another vehicle at Brookpark Road and Columbia Road. Johnson then abandoned the car while holding a pistol and ran toward the nearby Clareshire Drive apartment complex. Investigators say Johnson then ran toward an occupied apartment and forced resident Alia Aboalodos inside while armed with a handgun. Aboalodos was home with her four children, and her account to BCI investigators said Johnson pointed the gun at her and directed her farther into the residence. Ring camera footage corroborated that Johnson pushed her inside, while police video showed an Elyria officer arrive at the residence, move children away from the doorway and force the door open. The officer later told investigators that he saw the barrel of Johnson’s handgun pointed in his direction as he entered. BCI’s video analysis found that the first gunshot occurred less than a second after the door was kicked open, with the fifteenth gunshot occurring about 3.85 seconds after the breach.
