* (Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) Brooklyn, N.Y. — On Thursday, January 8, 2026, at approximately 5:27 p.m., several civilian witnesses called 911 and reported that there was a person inside of (NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital) who was acting violent, cutting himself with a knife and fighting with hospital staff. As a result of the calls to 911, Officer Liu, Officer Bradley, and additional officers assigned to the 78th Precinct responded to the location and encountered Lynch in a room on the 8th floor. The subject, identified as 62-year-old Michael Lynch, was obstructing the door to the room with two other persons therein, and was brandishing a sharp piece of a broken toilet seat. The officers ordered Lynch several times to drop his weapon, however he refused to do so and stepped towards them with the weapon extended. Officer Liu then discharged one round from his service firearm, while Officer Bradley and another officer deployed their Taser Conducted Electrical Weapons at Lynch. Lynch refused to relinquish his weapon and remained inside the room, while attempting several times to close the door. For approximately the next four minutes, the officers continued to order Lynch to drop his weapon while attempting to establish a dialogue. The officers subsequently deployed Taser Conducted Electrical Weapons, which were ineffective. Lynch then emerged from the room and again stepped towards the officers with the weapon extended at them in his left hand. As a result, Officer Liu discharged two additional rounds, and Officer Bradley discharged one round, from their service firearms, striking Lynch.
